SCROLL

OVERVIEW

The Center for Mathematical Science and Artificial Intelligence (CMSAI) aims to develop human resources with basic knowledge of mathematical science and to promote education and research related to mathematical science, AI, and data science. We do develop in:

  • Education and research on mathematical science
  • Education and research on AI
  • Education and research on data science
  • Collaborative research with domestic and overseas research institutes, private companies, etc.
  • Dissemination of research results inside and outside the university
  • Other projects necessary to achieve the purpose of the center

MISSION

The Center aims to provide engineering, science, and liberal arts education at our university, keeping in mind global research trends in mathematical science, artificial intelligence, and data science, and plans for higher education in mathematics, and information and data science, which has been promoted by Japanese Government. The Center was founded as an independent organization from the faculty in order to achieve the purpose effectively and adaptively to the changing society. There are four common understandings behind it:

(1) Promotion of mathematical science as a common language of all academics
(2) Use of AI for innovative manufacturing and system construction
(3) Emergent symbiosis between humans and AI to further expand the possible functions of the human brain (human augmentation)
(4) Generalization of tools for accurate and rapid analysis of big data.

Considering these social backgrounds, based on the subjectresearch on mathematical science

  • Mathematical Science (mathematics, physics, information science)
  • Artificial Intelligence(computer science, computational neuroscience, systems science)
  • Data Science (statistics, machine learning) ,

The Center will create an education program in cooperation with the department, and develop human resources who will lead the times.
